How long have you been a stylist?
4.5 years
How did you get into your chosen field?
I decided that I wanted to be a hair stylist when I was about 9 years old. My cousin was going to hair school and I was super jealous of her so I decided that I was going to do that too. Shortly after that I acquired a hairdressing school textbook and proceeded to read it cover to cover until I had every haircut memorized. I practiced styling my friends' hair, my dolls, parents and even my dog's hair... but for the record I only cut my doll's hair once and I cried so hard after my mom told me that it didn't grow back... I never did it again.
Why do you do what you do?
I do what I do plain and simple because I love it and I love meeting people. I love trying new things and the challenge of it. Best of all I love making people happy and excited about how good they can look.
What do you think you bring to the table? Skills, personality, etc.
Being newer to the industry I think I bring a young fresh approach to hair. I like keeping up with new trends and styles and I'm always up for a challenge.
What are your favorite things about your job?
Working with my best friends and awesome clients!
Relevant work experience? Education?
I attended Utopia Academy of Hair Design and in my first year as a licensed stylist I placed 2nd in BC's New Talent Cutting competition. In 2009, I placed 3rd in the Professional Women's Cut & Style. I've assisted Goldwell Master Stylists during major stage events as well as competed in Goldwell's International Trend Zoom competition. I also continually attend advanced coloring & cutting technique classes.
Why is Renaissance a good fit for you?
Because I'm a creative person and everyone else here is as well... and cuz I'm super cool!
Future plans?
To do hair but also to educate and compete. My dream is to be a well-known name in the competition world.
